Dear Recessionista
Is recession chic that extreme as A Label for a Pleather Economy?
We think "free-spending style hounds" (formerly known as “fashionistas”) should look beyond marketing driven big brands and fast fashion retailers to support smaller businesses and local economies. Advertising may imply that an oversized nylon/rayon cardigan from Target is comparable to TSE cashmere but, we beg to differ on both quality and experience.
As we shift our shopping habits, the choices between $29.99 and $1,000 should be a reasonable assortment of classic apparel from boutiques and specialty retailers. Forgo a trip to global mass market chain, save on gasoline, and check out sweaters from Souchi and Lutz & Patmos or Vince and J.Crew for alternatives that will last more than one season.
