In addition to being utterly adorable – this dog has a heart of gold.

In fact, Lord Sandwich has his own charity, Socks for Sandwich, which has donated over 5,000 pairs of new socks in the past year to those in need. Donating is as easy as posting a photo of a dog wearing socks on Instagram with the tag #socksforsandwich (one photo = one pair of new socks). Alternatively, traditional donations can also be made by mailing new socks, writing a check, or by purchasing limited edition apparel at SocksForSandwich.org. 

Sandwich the Goldendoodle has an undeniable way of bringing joy to others (yes, we have met him in person). In addition to his non-profit, Sandwich has inspired a Red Table Wine with the help of his humans at Smith Story Wine Cellars. For every bottle sold, one new pair of socks is donated. The first release of 601 cases sold by the winery equals a staggering 7,212 donations on top of the current altruistic program.

Why socks? It’s only logical to start on Instagram – where Lord Sandwich has reached nearly 60,000 fans and followers. There you will find the daily shenanigans of a hilariously gregarious, mischievous, and vocal dog with a fondness for snagging socks. It’s fairly shocking that BuzzFeed or Ellen haven’t booked him already on personality alone.

For Sandwich’s humans, the decision to pay forward the love and happiness Lord Sandwich brings to others by launching a nonprofit was an easy decision. To date, past and current recipients of socks from the organization include the North Sonoma Country Services, 2015 Valley Fire Victims, May 2015 Texas Flood Victims, and Center for Domestic Peace.
